The Customer Form

Enter information describing the customer in this form. You can also access other forms that describe what payments, programming, receivers, and service the customer has received. NOTE: the background database validation does not run when the customer form is open, so close this form when you aren't using it.

NOTE: Move the cursor over the picture of the form. When you see the little hand thingy Hand Thingy appear, you can click on the item to get more information!

NOTE: The menu to the right (with customers, receivers, etc.) is displayed whenever you right click inside the form you are working in, allowing you to quickly move from form to form as you enter customer information.

Last Name: Enter the customer's last name here. Although the single quote character may be used (for example, O'Malley), avoid using double quotes (the " character) as searching will suffer. Take care that the first and last name look reasonable when combined, separated by a blank. Also, take care not to insert leading blanks in the name. SatTracker searches much more efficiently when it matches either the entire field or from the start of the field.

First Name: Enter the customer's first name here. The information in Last Name (above) applies here.

Customer Id: The customer id is automatically generated; you can't change this field. It is used to maintain relationships between customers and orders, programming, program providers, receivers, and service. It is also used when you want to merge one customer with another.
Data source: Customers.CustomerId

Date Created: Date created is the date the Customer information was entered. If you leave this blank, today's date will be automatically inserted when you click to another record or jump to another form.

Address 1: Enter the customer's address here. Typically you would use the home address in this field.
Data source: Customers.Street1

Address 2: Enter a second customer's address here, if needed. Typically you would use the billing address in this field.
Data source: Customers.Street2

City 1: Enter the customer's home city here.
Data source: Customers.City1

City 2: Enter the customer's billing city here.
Data source: Customers.City2

State 1: Enter the 2 character abbreviation for the customer's home state here.
Data source: Customers.State1

State 2: Enter the 2 character abbreviation for the customer's billing state here.

Zip 1: Enter the customer's home Zip Code here. You can enter either the 5 or 9 digit version.
Data source: Customers.Zip1

Zip 2: Enter the customer's billing Zip Code here. You can enter either the 5 or 9 digit version.

Phone 1: Enter the customer's home phone number here. SatTracker will automatically add special characters to the phone number: a 7 digit number entered as 1234567 is converted to 123-4567 ; a 10 digit number entered as 1234567890 is converted to (123) 456-7890 . An 'ex' followed by a number is converted to an extension, e.g. 1234567890 ex 234 daytime converts to (123) 456-7890 [ex 234 daytime]

Phone 2: Enter the customer's work or billing phone number here. Alerts: Enter just about anything you want here.

Preferred: Enter 'yes' if the customer is preferred. This is for your own information. Future releases may use this to utilize a preferential pricing schedule. It is displayed under the term "Our System" on work orders; so you can prioritize your installations. You may see either a -1 or a 0. If so, you can still type 'yes' or 'no'. -1 means yes, and 0 means no.

Prospect: This field is automatically set to 'yes' when telemarketing information is entered. It is set to 'no' when you add a receiver to the customer. You may see either a -1 or a 0. If so, you can still type 'yes' or 'no'. -1 means yes, and 0 means no.

Active: This field is not used by the program at this time; you may want to use it in queries. See the QueryBuilder for information about creating queries. You may see either a -1 or a 0. If so, you can still type 'yes' or 'no'. -1 means yes, and 0 means no.

Comments: Click on this tab to view/enter any comments about the customer that aren't covered by the predefinied fields.

Directions: Click on this tab to view/enter directions for the installers. This information appears on work orders.

Credit Card Type: Enter the type of credit card for the customer here. Double click on the field to bring up a list of credit card types that you can change.

Credit Card Number: Enter the credit card number for the customer here. Double click on the field to bring up a list of credit card types that you can change.
Data source: Customers.CreditCard

Credit Card Expiration: Enter the four digit credit card expiration date for the customer here.
Data source: Customers.Exp

Sales Tax Exemption Number: Enter the a sales tax exemption number if the products sold to this customer are for resale (depending on the laws in your state). If this field is non-blank, sales tax is not calculated for the order.

Claim Number: This contains the qualifying information from your dish supplier. The telemarketers reports in the Prospects Form use the Claim Number field to indicate that the telemarketer should be paid for the lead. If Claim Number is non-blank, and the Telemarketer Paid Date field has not been field in, the Unpaid Telemarketers report includes that customer.

Notes: Enter any notes pertaining to this lead.
Data source: Customers.LeadNotes

Lead Source: Enter where the lead was generated. Double clicking on this field brings up a list of lead sources. Typical examples would be "Cold Calling", "Trade Shows", or "Walk-In".

Social Security Number: Enter the social security number of the lead.
Data source: Customers.SocialSecurityNo

Contact Date: Enter the date contacted. If this is left blank, the current date is used when you click to another record or out of the customers form.
Data source: Customers.ContactDate

Telemarketer: Enter the name of the telemarketer. Double clicking on this form brings up a list of telemarketers and their pay rate. The Unpaid Telemarketers report in the Prospects Form uses the pay rate to calculate the amount of money due the telemarketer.

Lead Paid Date: Make the LeadPaidDate non-blank to mark telemarketer as having been paid. The Mark Unpaid Telemarketers as Paid report in the Prospects Form sethis fd to currene (where the Claim r is non-blank and the LeadPaidDate is blank).

Navigational Buttons: The buttons, in order, perform: Go to first record, go to previous record, go to next record, and go to last record.

New Record Button: Press this button to create a new, blank customer record. If you hit this button by mistake, press 'Esc' (or click on the 'Undo' button) to undo the new record.

Delete Customer Button: Press this button to delete a customer record. A dialog box confirms the delete.

Undo Changes Button: Press this button to Undo changes to the customer record. You can also press the 'Esc' key.

View Original Data: Press this button to view original data associated with the customer. This button only functions if you utilized our data importation services. It exists so that any data translation errors can be rectified; sometimes the input data is too random to be imported programmatically.

Print Customer Information: Press this button to display a report containing all customer information, including orders, service, receivers, and programming.

Close Customer Form: Press this button to close the customer form. Any customer-related forms, such as receivers and service, are also closed.
