The Find Customer Form

NOTE: Move the cursor over the picture of the form. When you see the little hand thingy
appear, you can click on the item to get more information!
The Search Customer form implements a filter. It finds a subset of the customer records that match the search criteria you enter. The number of records that match your search specification are displayed down at the bottom of the screen on the status bar. You can also do searches by using built-in features found on the menu bar, such as find record, and filters/sorting. This form is provided for convenience in doing the most common searches. You can also find a customer by receiver using another form.
Search Type:
Press these radio buttons to specify how the field is searched. Exact is the fastest, but you have to be really careful about how you enter the search criteria. Matching from the start of the field is nearly as fast as exact, gives you a little room for error, but the search may find more records than you really want. Matching anywhere may be somewhat slow (although computers are so fast you may not notice it), and gives you the most flexibility.
Fields you may search:
The fields you most commonly used to search records are displayed on this form. If you put information in more than one field, all the search criteria must match for a record to be included in the results. Example:
- if you put "Thom" and Match From Start of field in the LastName
- and you put "234" and Match Any Part of Field in phone number.
- the types of matches you might expect to find are:
- Thomassen, 555-2340
- Thompson, 234-5555
- Thomas, (234) 555-2423
- Thom, 123-4556 would NOT match because of the intervening '-'.
Additional Notes:
- The telemarketer field must match exactly; you may select from a drop-down list of telemarketers.
- Both of the customer address fields are searched.
- Both of the customer phone number fields are searched.
- SatTracker 'fixes' phone numbers prior to searching the same way it fixes them in Customer Records.
